





Shams Association for Women and Children, registered in Turkey since 2015, based in Istanbul, is a non-profit humanitarian association that devotes its efforts to supporting women breadwinners, providing them with social and psychological support, in addition to economic rehabilitation to provide a decent life for them and their children. During nine years of continuous work, the association has achieved distinguished achievements in the following areas:
- Community classes: The association provided educational and recreational programs for Syrian refugees in centers distributed throughout Turkey, benefiting about 3,500 people.
- Economic empowerment: The association supported small projects by financing 550 projects, providing economic opportunities that benefited 600 people.
- Sponsorship programs: The association provides monthly sponsorships with an average of $45 for an orphan and $90 for a family, to ensure that their basic needs are met.
- Sand Program: The efforts included individual sessions, psychological counseling, group activities, and awareness lectures, with the number of beneficiaries reaching 50,000 people.
- Seasonal Projects: The association implemented projects such as Iftar, Eid al-Adha, Eid clothing, and winter initiatives, targeting more than 900,000 beneficiaries.
- Zakat and Charity: These included cash and in-kind distributions, ongoing charity, and sacrifices (beliefs and vows), benefiting 200,000 people.
- Urgent Relief: The association responded to emergencies by distributing blankets and mattresses to those affected by the earthquakes, providing food and health assistance, in addition to distributing ready-made meals and bread, with the number of beneficiaries reaching 25,000 people.
Over the course of nine years, Shams Association has proven its commitment to alleviating the suffering of the most needy groups, adopting a humanitarian vision based on sustainable giving.




2024 Report
In its tenth year, Shams Association for Women and Children continued its humanitarian work in five countries (Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey), providing support to refugees and displaced persons in Gaza, northern Syria, and Palestine. Thanks to supporters and donors, the association was able to be the helping hand recommended by religion, helping alleviate people’s suffering and planting hope in their hearts. The association also paid special attention to women, providing them with opportunities to stand on their feet with dignity and pride.
The association’s activities are divided into several main sectors:
Education: includes community class projects, assistance to Gaza Strip students in Turkish universities, and educational and Quranic tents.
Employment and Development: includes projects to empower women and families, and reclaim agricultural lands.
Relief and Seasonal Projects: includes seasonal aid (Ramadan, holidays), urgent relief, winter clothing and heating, and zakat and charity.
Sponsorships: includes sponsorship of orphans, sponsorship of families, and sponsorship of patients and people with special needs.
1. Education Sector:
· Community Classrooms Project: aims to educate children who were unable to attend formal education due to war and refugee conditions. The project is implemented in educational centers in the cities of Reyhanli and Kilis in southern Turkey, and 300 children benefit from it annually.
· Gaza Strip Students Assistance Project in Turkish Universities: The program provides monthly cash assistance to 215 students from the Gaza Strip, in addition to training programs in life skills and dealing with crises.
· Educational Tents Project in Gaza: Educational tents provide a rapid response to the affected areas in Gaza, where Palestinian curricula are taught and children are trained in basic skills.
· Quranic Tents Project in Gaza: Quranic tents were organized during the month of Ramadan to teach the Holy Quran, benefiting more than 1,200 young men and women.
2. Employment and Development Sector:
· Women Empowerment Assistance Project: aims to support the most needy refugee women in Turkey by training them in managing small projects and providing them with financial and marketing support.
· Family Empowerment Assistance Project: Includes drilling water wells, establishing automated bakeries, and reclaiming agricultural land to help families achieve self-sufficiency.
3. Relief Sector and Seasonal Projects:
· Relief activities include distributing seasonal aid (Ramadan, Eid), winter clothing and heating, and urgent relief. The association also distributes zakat and alms to the needy.
