
Based on the vision of Shams Association for Women and Children, it launched a comprehensive initiative aimed at meeting basic social, physiological, and psychological human needs through an integrated program entitled “Sand”, which has benefited more than 50,000 women and children in the areas of Kilis, Reyhanli, and Istanbul over the course of nine years.
The program focuses on meeting the needs of the target groups through various activities aimed at:
- Promoting mental health and addressing the behavioral effects resulting from wars.
- Providing seasonal projects and sponsorships for orphans and needy families.
- Organizing educational classes for children who have dropped out of school and providing them with life skills.
Implementing development programs to empower women economically by managing their own projects, which contributes to achieving a decent life.
Program Topics
Women’s Self-Empowerment
This axis focuses on developing women’s personalities and enhancing their own capabilities through:
- Self-esteem
- Managing emotions and controlling anger
- Non-verbal communication skills
- Setting goals and acquiring positive habits
- Positive thinking
Strengthening Family Relationships
This axis is concerned with strengthening family ties, whether between spouses or with children through:
- Courses based on developmental psychology and educational psychology.
- Awareness programs on the foundations of healthy relationships within the family.
Program Services
- Providing group and individual psychological support sessions.
- Organizing special consultations for women aimed at improving their family relationships.
- Building strong links between the work team and beneficiary families to enhance the positive impact of the program.
The Sand Program is a practical model concerned with a comprehensive response to the needs of women and children, directing continuous efforts to empower women and support families psychologically and socially to achieve stability and development.
